The Chinese corporation "Three Gorges" has commissioned the world's first 58-story offshore wind turbine with a capacity of 20 MW off the coast of Fujian province.
Specifications of the giant
The hub height of the turbine reaches 174 meters (equivalent to a 58-story building), and the rotor diameter is 300 meters. The installation is located more than 30 km from the shore at a depth of over 40 meters.
Energy performance
The turbine will generate about 80 million kWh per year, providing energy for 44,000 households and replacing the burning of 22,000 tons of coal annually.
