The nuclear-powered strategic missile submarine cruiser of project 955A ('Borey-A') 'Emperor Alexander III' of the Pacific Fleet successfully completed its assigned combat missions and returned to its base in Kamchatka after a long voyage that lasted about three months.
Upon arrival, the crew of the cruiser was met by the commander of the Submarine Forces of the Pacific Fleet, Hero of Russia, Rear Admiral Valery Varfolomeev, personnel of the strategic submarine division, family members of military personnel, and representatives of the local administration.
During the ceremonial event, the rear admiral congratulated the crew on the successful completion of their tasks and presented the submarine commander with a traditional commemorative gift — a roasted piglet. Distinguished servicemen were also recognized: they were awarded departmental honors and promoted to the next military ranks.
It is noted that after a brief rest and replenishment of supplies, the crew will continue to carry out planned combat training tasks of the Submarine Forces of the Pacific Fleet.
'Emperor Alexander III' is the seventh nuclear-powered ballistic missile cruiser of the new generation of the 'Borey' family and the fourth modified project 'Borey-A'. The cruiser was laid down at Sevmash on December 18, 2015, and launched on December 29, 2022.
In September of last year, 'Emperor Alexander III' together with the submarine 'Krasnoyarsk' made an Arctic underwater transit along polar routes from the operational zone of the Northern Fleet to the eastern sector of the Arctic, and then arrived at its permanent base in Vilyuchinsk, Kamchatka.
