The international logistics group Rhenus Logistics, headquartered in Germany, has begun to consider several investment projects related to the development of Azerbaijan's port infrastructure.
The company, specializing in multimodal transport and supply chain management, is looking at projects aimed at enhancing multimodal and maritime connectivity in the country. Currently, the projects are in the evaluation and analysis stage, the details of which are not yet disclosed.
Key areas of planned investments include:
- Modernization of transshipment points;
- Creation of new logistics depots;
- Digital integration of customs, port, and railway processes;
- Development of sustainable logistics infrastructure along the Trans-Caspian corridor.
Rhenus Logistics actively collaborates with clients, partners, and government structures in Azerbaijan, investing in those projects where it sees real demand and prospects for long-term economic development in the region.
Azerbaijan plays a strategic role in the multimodal corridors connecting Asia and Europe. For example, cargo arriving at the port of Baku can be sent by rail to Georgia and then to the Black Sea or Turkey in just a few hours, significantly reducing delivery times compared to northern routes.
Given the ongoing investments in key transport hubs such as Baku, Aktau, and Kuryk, as well as improvements in railway coordination between Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, it is forecasted that cargo volumes in the region will double by 2030, confirming the importance and potential of Rhenus Logistics' current initiatives.
